Third Grade Student Success Initiative Removed
During the 2009 Texas Legislative Session the Student Success Initiative for 3rd Grade was removed by House Bill 3. This move does not remove 3rd grades TAKS exams. It does however, remove the requirement to pass the Reading exam for grade level promotion.
Third grade students will be taking Reading and Math TAKS exams the last week of April, 2010. Third grade students will no longer have up to 3 attempts on the Reading exam.
